This research section revolves around using geological, GPS and seismological data to understand processes of crustal and lithospheric deformation, to understand the mechanical behavior of earthquake faults and, with that information, to define the level of seismic hazard in areas at both local and regional scales.
We are actually working around the Adria margin in peninsular Italy and Sicily in the framework of two MURST projects:
* Dynamics of the lithosphere: seismicity and deformation in active regions of central Italy
* The Mesozoic Tethyan lithospheric inheritance in the subduction and collisional processes of the central-eastern Mediterranean
